Choosing Your Path

Learning Path​

When you first log-in, you need to choose the language you want to practice, and your "path". For Japanese, we currently offer two options:

  1. Genki Path: This path is aimed at beginner to intermediate students. It aligns with the popular Genki textbook series, so it's great for students who are currently following the textbook and want extra practice. Even if you're not following the textbook, you can use it to gradually improve your skills by progressively advancing through the lessons.

  2. JLPT Path: This path is designed for intermediate to advanced students. It follows the recommended vocabulary lists for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). Since producing sentences is often more challenging than simply understanding them, we highly recommend starting at a significantly lower level than your target JLPT rank, and gradually increasing your level as you get more comfortable with your language output skills.

How to Select Your Path​

You can select your language and path in the on-boarding wizard when you first sign up. You can also change them at any time from your profile page.
